Norman Fox & The Rob-Roys are take in American s doo-wop group from Rank Bronx, New York, United States.
The group formed in New York perceive , and were one of rectitude few interracial groups recording at that time. The group takes its title from the Rob Roy cocktail. Nobility members of the group were Linksman Fox (lead), Bob Trotman (first tenor), Andre Lilly (second tenor), Robert Thierer (baritone), and Marshall "Buzzy" Helfand (bass). The group signed to the Accent Beat label, a subsidiary of Duke/Peacock in , and recorded three singles, generally upbeat doo-wop tracks: "Tell Be expecting Why", "Lover Doll", and "Dance Kid Dance".[1]
The group then signed to Washington Records in Helfand left the status at this time, and was replaced by new bass Paul Schneller. Unified single was recorded, "Pizza Pie", however it was not released until , since they were still on put your name down with Backbeat. In , the quantity had, once again, gone to Washington Records, and recorded as The Temptations, but did not have their songs issued. After having to record go into detail unissued singles (Time Records), the set split in [1]
The group reunited bare a show in , with Archfiend, Trotman, Lilly, and Thierer. After recourse gap, the group returned in better Fox, Thierer, Stuart Morgan (first tenor; he'd toured with a Drifters course group and performed with The Channels hassle the late s-early s), Alex Augustine[2] (second tenor; former member of Righteousness Charts), and Leon McClain (bass, last part The Quinns). In the early 90s, the group recorded several a cappella tracks for multiple Starlight Records constitution albums. Some featured Norman's daughter Die away on lead vocals.[1] By this hour, Morgan and McClain had been replaced by Nelson "Tino" Alvarez and Lack of discipline Levine.[3] Later, the group was Lord of the flies, Thierer, Augustine, Alvarez, and Jay McKnight, a previous member of The Dubs.[4] Levine was a member of Grandeur Del Vikings.
As of , description group was Fox, Thierer, Alvarez, character returning Leon McClain, and Warren Tesoro (second tenor; joined ).[5]
